Project Description

Block RS-64D Project

Desert Minerals Co LTD (DM) has obtained a concession license for the block RS-64D on 20/12/2018, based on preliminary geological study DM conducted on October 2018. The concession block is located in Red Sea state and covers area of 222 sq.km. The property is connected with the Atbara-Port Sudan highway by a 100 km long desert road which is in a good condition all year around. The distance from the project site to Atbara city and to Port Sudan is about 200km and 450km respectively.

Exploration activities started in February 2019. In 2019 a remote sensing study has been completed by Airbus Defence and Space. Remote sensing datasets primarily consist of newly acquired WorldView-3 imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data. The study was resulted with alteration mineral maps and structural interpretation. A total of 14 field targets have been identified by Airbus within the block RS64-D.

During 2019-2020 a soil geochemistry program was fulfilled. More than 16,000 soil samples were collected within the concession block. The whole area of the block was covered by a sampling pattern 100x100m except the streams. A special sampling protocol developed ionic leach assay method (ALS Code ME-MS23) was applied. All the collected samples were assayed at ALS Loughrea, Ireland. A huge gold bearing structure was identified diagonally crossing the concession block from SW to NE. Field observations confirmed that the structure is represented by 20-50m wide shear zone. The most intensive and large gold anomaly appears at the SW corner of the block along the shear zone. There is a potential on gold mineralization also in the central part of the concession block showing S-N striking gold anomaly.

The whole area of the concession block was covered by ground magnetic survey in 2019. Also an IP survey was carried out within the “Target 1” identified by remote sensing study having some potential of VMS mineralization.

In 2020 Desert Minerals has founded its analytical laboratory in Khartoum, Sudan to boost the project as no proper geochemical labs existed in Sudan and sample export takes long time due to required permissions and routine paper works. DM lab consists of sample prep lab, fire assay lab and spectral lab. Later all the rock chip and channel samples and drill samples were assayed at DM Laboratory. Totally 35,250m of trenches are excavated from 2019 to 2021. And more than 7,300
channel samples were taken from trenches. Totally 22,750m of RC holes and 16,500m of diamond holes are drilled within the concession block. All the channel and drill samples are assayed at DM Lab. Few mineralized lenses are outlined in the shear zone. The lenses strike 60-180m and they are 20-40m thick in their widest part.

Besides the major gold bearing shear zone, more than 60 quartz veins are identified and explored. The veins have thickness from 0.2m to 2.5m and strikes from 20m to 120m. Gold grades in the quartz veins vary from 0.5ppm to 120ppm.
